Project Outline and Questions

As I mentioned in the last post, the main focus of my blog is for my Ethnomusicology Research Project. I have been given a few questions to bear in mind whilst doing the project (see below). Over the next 3 weeks I am going to be concentrating on the Grahamstown National Arts Festival (30th June - 10th July, 2011), and the different kinds of performers and people that come to this little gem of a town.
Identify a community or social group:
  • What kinds of music are they enjoying or participating in?
  • Are there any musicians
  • Is there a desire for musical activities?
  • How can musical performance and music be used to influence behaviour in a social group?
  • How am I going to involve myself in this community or social group?
  • What steps am I going to take and how am I going to plan and resolve emerging issues?
  • What would I like to see coming out of this project?
